I've often wondered if the profit margins were much higher for data than for video. Seems to me that small cable companies can't catch a break. With the latest announcements about 5G internet, wired data lines might be going the way of the home phone line as well. It's too bad the FCC won't let operators operate their systems as they wish...then you could cut out the crap channels that aren't worth anything and allocate more bandwidth to data.
I think eventually all television will be streamed. At some point it will be cheaper to have all content available VOD than having to support hundreds of channels, some which might not even be watched.
