   Like tyemkink says, shoot back the other direction and you will more than likely have the opposite. A gainer where there was a loss, and loss where there was a gainer. Since you mentioned that at one splice you had a gain and then at the next there was a loss, this happens when there is two different types of fiber, ie xbrand fiber to ybrand fiber, or two different grade fibers from the same manufacture
