To answer your Question, You would only need a C-7 if you are going to work on your own as a Contractor in Cali. You will also have to Provide workmens comp insurance, a bond or atleast 2 million in insurance for most compines here. If you are working for a Compnay, They will hold the C-7 and your fine.
I would truly stress that you look into the rate of pay for the Job Duties that you plan on doing here in Cali. We have thousands of People coming into the state every day, that will work for almost nothing. This will decrease what you can expect to be paid dramaticly. Dish, Direct TV are all fields here that have seen a drastic drop in wages. I would highly suggest that you come out here for a couple of weeks and take a good look at the area and the pay rates. I think you will change your mind about coming here very quickly.
