It depends had a guy i worked with was cleared to work worked in the field for over 2 years passed background checks both years than one year didn't pass background check and it was for something that happened 10 years ago and hadn't got in trouble since. also had another guy got a DUI 15 years ago originally got cleared to work they did another background check the following year and didn't.
