From satellite to Cable

Hey folks, Looking for a little wisdom and advice. Recently returned to California from Virginia. Satellite internet / tv most my life out there. Now in California, I'm not liking all the drive aways. Thinking about making a life change and learning Cable, since I live in a city now. Any positive or negative comments welcome.
