I've seen a few ways of doing it:

By Thomas Guide grid number and assign amp/node/ps numbers of your choosing. Can be confusing.
By trunk run/amp/feeder run, power supplies numbered with the amps
By node/express/amp/feeder

Here is an example of how we do it in the HFC part of the plant:

WC02604P314   -  Translation,   Walnut Creek node 26, amp 4, port 3, 14 tap

When we talk in the field it gets reduced to Walnut Creek 26 and an address

The RFOG part of the plant:

PH11D2   -   Translation,   Pleasant Hill 11, fiber D, splice case 2

As far as I know there is not an industry standard, for that matter most companies don't have an internal standard. In most cases it was left up to the designer to make the designations.
