No they are not the same, deep injection wells are used to store waste chemicals, they actually look for faults so they can store more waste chemicals. They drill into the ground as deep as possible and inject the waste until it's full.
In fracking they advoid faults because if a fault shifts it could destroy the well and make it useless for gas and oil extraction.
If a fault shifts on an injection well as long as the shaft is intact they can keep injecting. Fracking and injection are totally different methods and two totally different operations.
