That's funny the mayor before, during and after Katrina was Ray Nagin a democrat, he was a republican and then switched parties shortly after taiking office in his first term. He has since been indicted on federal corruption charges for using Katrina money for his own means. So if as Beerrs1 said the police were going door to door collecting guns it happened under a democrat, or did you fail to realize that?
Oh yeah the governor of the state at the time Kathleen Blanco a democrat did not let the federal government in to the area until 4 days after the storm had past. But I guess you failed to realize that too.
