All that certification crap seemed to be just a money thing. The technical aspects of sat installation are handed to the last hired electrician. The whole job can be learned in a few days. Cheap hand tools and a truck make you a (first level) installer. You can see the difference between a newbi install and someone with skill and experience....but the money is not there. Good guys quit.
What ios really wanted with all installations is integrity. That is what the satcos are buying.
They want to feel secure that the technical side of the installation was done according to their specification. They also need to know that their equipment is actually where their installer said it was.
Finally, as indepebdent contractors, a customer company cannopt specify techniques...they can only reject non spec work. Employers can seed to hire experienced & skilled employees. Training gaps are filled by on the clock training.
Companies who offer low wages and minimum training have huge turnover & training costs plus their jobs are constantly falling apart. Fewer steady hands can get the job done without all the opera...but they want to be paid.
