Ya, that's right. Just call the office of any local cable company you would like to work at and tell anyone who will listen you are available. When I did sales contracting, I would ask for the sales supervisor. I suppose you would ask for the technical supervisor. Cable companies have their own conrtacts these days and will tell you what they are paying and what you need to do to qualify. I rarely got in any big metro area. Easiest to get into are the rural areas because nobody wants to work them. I had a ball for 13 years working small towns from Texas to Wisconsin but if you want to stay put, sure there is plenty of rural work not to far from home.
