Owning a company is not all that it seems in the eyes of the tech. Some people are right on when they bring up the workmans comp and other factors. This doesn't mean you can't make a boatload of money. Also current trends say that the govt will be on your ass when it comes to the 1099 ordeal that is going on everywhere. If this continues you will need a ton of capital to get into this business as a contract owner. Right now there are several MSOs that are not forcing their contractors to go W2. I would search out these type is MSOs and try to find out who the individual is that gives out the install contracts. Certain parts of the year are better than others to ask for contracts. You might even call factoring companies considering they already have the relationships built with almost all the cable operators.

Do your research first and don't believe all the negativity that you hear on this site. Most of these guys would find something to complain about if they were making Donald Trump money.
