I have tried a little of almost everything in the cable industry from installs, collections and sales. I never tried the line work but yes it is still nickel and dime. The only good thing is the work is steady which makes up the difference in the low line item pay from my experience. I get up early and hit the ground running but still having to fight for every dollar. Yes, there are still those dead beat companies out there that leave you holding an invoice at the end of the week and they find a reason not to pay you for you blood sweat and tears, but like you said Karma is a bitch. It almost seems like the only way to get ahead is to get your own contract but with that you get a whole new level of headaches as well as bills. I don't know what happened to the industry to make it this way but hopefully it will turn around at some point.
