Tell your boss or who ever....even the customer that you will replace the dreser. Tell them you will need a reciept for what they paid for it. If they do not have one, tell them you will need a make, model and manufacturer of the dresser. Make them prove to you how much they paid for it and when they bought it. Then go to the manufactures web site, or call the manufacturer and ask them what the depreciated vaue of the dresser is and tell the customer that is what you will pay. If their house burned down that is what their insurance company would do. And since you are paying for the dresser or are going to "replace" it....make sure they are aware that you will be taking the old one with you when you replace or pay for it. If anything...donate it to a charity group and write it off.
