I am getting differing opinions on wether or not to ping the CMTS network address to check system integrity. I say yes, ping away!! I prefer to send "big" and "fast" and typical settings are 512 byte packets sent at 25ms. I am looking for 12 ms avg at the nodes and sub 20 ms. averages anywhere in the nodes. Others say it's useless to ping higher than 64, if at all??!!
