Really depends on which 'Bible' (or jewish fairy tale) you are asking about, the old testement, the new testament, the king james version...
Master is right, the 'Bible' is not one single book, its a collection of books told by many different people, kinda like a Grimms Fairy tale childrens book is a collection of different fairy tales, that is the bible.
The books were written in an age before science, to try to help explain things that, non scientific minds could not explain, the old testament would have been before 'Jesus', the New testament, was started about 800 years after the death of 'Jesus'.
If the 'Bible' would have been released under current situations, it would be laughed at, it makes for a good story, but so does alot of fictional books.
But to answer the OP original question, the oldest known bible is roughly about 1600 years old, and does not match the bibles you see today, it also includes to additional chapters that are not in the king james version.
