I did not read your entire post, way to long, but this first paragraph kind of caught me off guard.

What 'heights' are you referring to? If I remember history correctly, Rome, Ancient Egypt, Mayans, and China all were just as developed, for their point in history that is, you can't really compare technological advancement, back then they did not have the internet.
Also, you forgot to give credit to Rush Limbaugh for your post, would not want anyone to think you are the original author of this or anything.
