Because the healthcare reform act is seeing premiums rise as the insurance companies now have to cover pre-existing conditions and your kids up to 24. As well since working people are now forced into purchasing healthcare insurance or face a penalty/tax if they don't. The health insurance industry is taking advantage of no mandated caps on premiums which is a huge hole in the healthcare reform act.
