I don't know, I think there are a lot of people here that remember Katrina. I went down there and got bullshitted on my first project. Got told one scope and got there and it was completely different. I would have gone home empty-handed except that I had two other contracts I could work on. Nevertheless, getting any kind of lodging was hell, getting gas was hell, etc. Not to mention that around 2pm every day, all the zombies would get in their cars and drive around for no reason other than to enjoy their vehicle's A/C system, snarling traffic. I made some good money, not great money. Would I do it again, probably not but I guess that depends on how broke I was. Maybe I'm a cynic because of working Katrina, but NE is a lot farther from where I'm at and the local governments don't seem to want help anyway. NJ turning away non-union help. Hell, I doubt I could even fill up a big gulp cup in New York now.
