I used a similar line but told them the truth bc of what salesdawg said.
I would tell them I am checking lines (never said auditor, bad word for some) and I wanted to come by to see if they would like to get [insert current special] b4 I go to work because if it has been left on I am going to have to turn it off.
Some will continue to lie but at least you can use the line again and again in the same area
