US Dept of Labor Sues DirecTv/Subs for Labor Abuse

For all of you DirecTv techs who long to mobilize and do something about the rampant abuse and underpayment that pervades the industry, here may be your chance to fight back!

The US Dept of Labor has demonstrated a willingness to right these wrongs by filing suit in Washington State against DirecTv and its Sub because of complaints that led to an investigation which found techs are routinely being worked over 40hrs/wk without overtime pay and not even earning federal minimum wage!

The suit aims to hold DirecTv and Subs responsible for unpaid minimum wage + overtime + an equal amount in liquidated damages.

*** If you are similarly affected, here's some of what you can do:

1. File a complaint for Back Wages Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Collect your records, and follow the instructions on this website to file complaint.  They will investigate and you may be entitled to 2-3yrs of backpay for unpaid wages.

2. Send a message to Dept of Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis:

It never hurts to bring attention to your case!  Secretary Solis is the plantiff in the current case who is standing up for affected workers just like yourself.  The more reports that pour in from around the nation, the more effective permanent change may result.  For fair pay to become the standard and not the exception, it needs to be thoroughly exposed that these labor abuse practices are a national dilemma and must be stopped across the board!
