There is a cash prize that comes with every medal. $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze. That's what is taxed as income. Marco Rubio (a Republican) has a bill in Congress to get rid of that tax on olympians prize money. It is expected to pass. But now I'm thinking this bill might piss-off any Liberal that wins a prize and has to pay taxes on it.
