There is a white grease called heatsink or thermal compound. We used to put a good bead around the bottom of the module where it makes contact with the housing. This helps transfer heat to the housing where it can escape through radiation. Maybe the housing is slightly warped from improper tightening and the mod is not making enough contact to the housing, the heat can build up and reach that shut down temp. Worth a try.
