install a dc12/16 on the input of the first amp or insert at the combining network.  Still scratching my head as to why you are not setting this up at the headend.  You should test run this idea on some drop cable before you start breaking amps apart.  It will work but you need to turn everything way down and work your way up.  Test this on known good cable.  TDR is the best way to work this.  A sweep will not tell you much if you don't know what you are looking at......Good Luck
