Depends, how many satellites you wanna point to? Dish you have to point to 2. This means you have to tilt your dish. Not point and go. Directv I think you can still point to just 1 and the dish could be sideways and your gonna get a signal. On HD, Dish is better because your pointed to 3 high powered satellites. Which means you have a lot more room for error. Directv has 3 satellites as well, BUT if it isn't pointed to a T, you will have lots of problems. sound following the picture and so fourth.
Either way they can be setup on a tri-pod and work out just fine.
