Just be sure to ask as many questions as possible before committing. Try to have a record of what all is offered up front (email exchange works well). I have always been very up front and honest with out of town applicants yet still somehow get the occassional tech "stranded" in a remote market claiming we are responsible for the bad situation he is in. In those cases they either didnt pay attention to the offer of "1 month hotel covered" or "$X.XX amount of travel pay" and just made assumptions. There have been numerous times we have lost money as a company as well by setting up an out of town tech in a new market, only to get burned by them, so it goes both ways. We have 2 different markets right now comprised solely of out of town technicians, all making great money (close to what you stated above) so it can work out given the right situation.
