Granted I did not take the time to read each and every comment. But honestly, in some ways, I don't think any of these questions will be worth the time spent asking them in a few years. I have seen a few systems go to hot tapping, and it seems like it is working out very well. Cuts down the need for installs and trouble calls tremendously. Also, because of how these systems are being set up, it is almost eliminating the need for other areas of the cable industry as well - such as nonpays and EQ collections.
A couple of the cable companies I currently contract with have begun rebuilding systems to support hot tapping. We have already been warned it is coming.
Bottomline to me is this: How can we as contractors still make good money to live on, find a happy medium with our primes, and not work 12 and 16 hour days without jeopardizing our ethics, integrity, and values, and still have the sense of accomplishment at the end of the day??
