>Jim,at the network interface unit if you are testing for downstream signals you should be testing for QAM 64 or 256 not QPSK. Look at your modulation Error ratio....Anything greater than 35 is superb the average range is between 22 to 35 DB. Your Bit Error Ratio should be between 10-4 and 10-9 before Reed Soloman correction and make sure you don't have too many uncorrected errors. Lastly look at your constellation and make sure it is clean, MER between 22 to 35>DB.
I have rarely seen one under 32> if there is, you have a problem. QPSK is generally an upstream signal our sortware will analyze most of our upstream signals. You will need a digital analyzer. The DMA 1000 is a good one ....about 1200 dollars.
