We are using ADC and SA. Depends on which city you're talking about. You have to take into account the splitting network after the Rx. What does the CMTS want to see, what is the DOCSIS level from the tap, what is the level from inside the house? You want your modems to Tx in the 45 to 50 dB range on average.
When we set up a new Aurora RFoG V-Hub, the Rx in the headend wants to see 35 dB. We have a truck with a 100' drop, a 4 way splitter and 50' of line after the splitter( try to mimic the set up in a house ). We go to one of the furthest optical spitters and set up the equipment on board ( DHCT, TV, Modem ) which is then used to set the individual services in the splitting network in the headend to the middle of the operating window. Once the hub is set up, each house is individually balanced to maintain optimal levels, this is done at install and every service call, a tech does not leave a house until every service is up to spec.
