I did a little research and today (2012) the average yearly earnings for a communications lineman is $56,000. A journeyman lineman makes an average of $61,000 a year. A telecommunication mechanic (splice - sweep) makes an average of $64,000 a year. These are all average numbers, and am not sure if they include OT but for a 40 hr week $56,000 a yr. averages out to $26.92 an hr. The way I see it, a lineman with 5+ years exp. who is getting under $25 an hour is either a below average lineman or is getting screwed. Hope this helps.
