I will agree with most of this... I remember when I was doing Directv, they told me 2000 or newer white van or truck. By now its probably 2007 or newer. I dont recommend contracting directly with them. A retailer will be better.
But here is the main Key...
If Directv is your ONLY contract and thats all your doing. Thats a problem.
If you work with multiple directv retailers, thats ok.
You can't just work strictly for directv as a contractor. They will treat you like an employee.
I always tell them to pay my gas pay for my vehicle and pay my insurance if they wanna dictate
How, when and what work I get. Because If theyre gonna treat me like an employee, they better pay me like one.
So installing for directv is not stupid. You just have to do it right.
The freedom is the main reason I do contract work. I will never go back to working for or contracting for directv.
As everyone here should know Directv, Dish Network. They are entry level positions. Thats the way I see it.
Contracting for something that takes very little experience and very little training to me is crazy.
Start there, but dont finish there. If you are just starting, start like everyone else. Contractor or Employee, You HAVE to work your way up!
If you don't know how, do bunches of research and figure it out.
