Re: I need help on meter reading event at cable te

I know the game you're talking about. I built a couple of the boxes and am training the techs how to decipher them now. When you are given the worksheet ( I can fax you a blank or you can pick it up ) and you take the readings from the box there are configurations on the worksheet that cannot be correct, immediately eliminate those, then figure out what is in the box using basic math ( subtraction ) to find the boxes internal configuration. Look at it as a puzzle, you know the input level and the output levels, you know the losses on the different pieces of equipment that could be in the box. Now all you have to do in your head is arrange the equipment in the possible combinations until it works. Unfortunately there are a couple of possible loss combinations like a 11/4 tap with a DC-6 or a 14/4 with a 2-way, that part is guess work. I've lost arguments with the local SCTE chapter members about being correct in the math, just to have them say it is the wrong answer. Good luck winning that trip to Orlando, I've got a guy that wants it bad.
