Its the norm for DirecTV, if you are contracting directly for DTV or an HSP, if you are going to work as a sub for a company that is contracting for an HSP, you are usually covered under their policy, but that still does not protect you, due to the fact if you do cause a damage, 'most' contract companies will require you to pay for the repairs, and not claim it on their insurance because it will make their policy increase, as a rule, I would recommend you get your own 1mil policy, its only about $30-$60 a month for a 1mil. Workmans comp is different, depending on the state you are in, In Texas, a 1099 contractor is not required to have workmans comp unless you have actual w2 employees.
