according to Daniel

If there were no journalists and national press to investigate politicians then they would get away with even more crimes than they currently do and government would be filled with even more sleaze and corruption than currently exists. Similarly, if atheists were not proactive then theists would get away with even more delusional beliefs and rational crimes than they currently do. It is insufficient for atheists to simply sit back and ignore the theists and hope they'll go away. History shows that they will keep beating their religion drums until the end of time, irrespective of what philosophical or experimental evidence is put before them.
Atheists do not have a problem with texts such as the Bible or Qur'an as texts for providing moral codes by which people should adhere to. Large societies require laws and moral codes, otherwise people would be killing each other even more than they currently do. As to whether such texts are the word of an omniscient, omnipresent, omnibenevolent and omnipotent god, atheists do not except such claims. And this is at the root of the problem for atheists. Theists start off with moral codes from great philosophers of their day and exaggerate them out of all proportion, making fantastic unprovable claims that have no source.

Indeed, the theists don't know when to stop and go out of their way to brain wash and influence young and impressionable children with their mumbo jumbo. They do their best to fill the minds of young children with superstitious nonsense that has no rational and provable grounds. They fill the minds of impressionable children and adults with endless sadistic stuff about original sin, committing a sin every time you feel a human emotion such as anger, committing a sin for not continually getting down on your hands and knees like a dog begging for forgiveness for simply being a human being. Through the eyes of an atheist the religious world is a sick, bitter and twisted world that is full of hatred.

Atheists are naturalists and believe in the here and now and enjoying what Nature presents to us, and not always wishing to be dead and for a better ever lasting, eternally happy existence in some non-existent afterlife. Atheists believe that all living things are equal and that the universe and Earth was not simply created for humans. On the contrary, atheists believe that humans are an insignificant speck of dust in the vast universe that we find ourselves within.

If a single God does exist and texts such as the Bible are the word of God then God is not a nice being. It created a universe which is inherently cruel and all living things are born knowing they've just entered a cruel place; every morning the antelope wakes and knows that it must outrun the lion. If God is all powerful and all knowing then there are an infinite number of alternative universes that are possible. Maybe such other universes exist but considering just the universe that we find ourselves in, then any rational person has to concede that the universe is just about as cruel and hostile a place as you could imagine.

If multiple gods exist then which is the true god? How many wars do we have to have and how many people have to be killed and suffer as a direct result of different races of people believing in different gods?

If no god or gods exist then so what? Let's assume that life on Earth is unique throughout the entire universe, as much of the evidence to date indicates. That doesn't mean that we are forsaken and that world-anarchy will eminently ensue. In fact nothing changes, except for the centuries old burden of incorrect beliefs and hatred amongst differing races is removed in an instant. We can still adhere to the laws of the land and the moral codes taught to us by our parents. We could learn to have greater respect for planet Earth and all of its life and not just human life. We could learn to live with people from all races and not immediately hating and wanting to kill someone just because they believe in a different god.

Yes, a world without God would be a far better, friendlier and happier place.

A world without religion would also be a safer place for innocent children, who have been abused by the religious-lot for centuries and continue to be abused
