That is incorrect.  An 8 way splitter is the same as a swm 8 switch except you can connect a second dish into it.  If you have more than 8 tuners you need a swm 16.  You do not count the bbdeca as a tuner.  I have not heard about the built in wifi deca, not sure if that is true or not.
