Just a sign of the times. Lifetime background check, credit rating, drug screen, apperence restrictions, color of vehicle, workman's comp ins, $2m liability, etc, etc, etc. Just a way for corp America pass on cost to the individual and short your pay at any little whim. No different in-house,just the effect of the past 30+ years of bottom line economics in this country. Contractors that jump thru hoops will stay employed and those that don't, seeya. The working man has always had it this way and complaining about it is like howling @ the moon, sound frightening but little to no effect. Work hard my brothers.
