Good question not to many people think about. There used to be some good stuff online I hate to say it but I think the OSHA web site had some ladder safety at one time.
I would recommend at least the following
INSPECTION - Biggest one Inspect the ladder each use but a in depth inspection should be conduct on a schedule and record should be kept.
Proper Set up on a pole include how to tie the ladder off some companies require that.
Overhead hazards.
Proper techniques for carrying
Boots and other PPE
I could go on and on been threw a few of these classes
