Aretha Franklin is a great singer, but Whitney had a pure voice also, before the drugs ruined her. I would listen to either one of them. It's true she succombed to drugs, and it's a shame she couldn't break free from her demons but to say she couldn't sing with the best female voices in the industry in her prime is just not a true statement.
