Hoss this is not the time to be getting into this trade (CATV)...Maybe fiber as 1000's of mile of rural fiber is starting up as the Obama Stimulus funds are being released. Just about every region in USA has some fiber projects in design stages or has already started. If your new to the trade, sub from a GOOD company until you fully understand what you REALLY need. Are You Aerial or Underground: Insurance/work comp/taxes/trucks/trailer/tools/experience laborers/safety equipment and most of all if on your own...A good marketing guy to sell your company. If you do Great work..word of mouth is your best marketing tool. Your need at least 45-90 day worth of operating funds, you can't do it all so get you a good assistant. Best advise is to do the job RIGHT the first time out-go backs are costly for everyone. Most of the MSO's patch jobs being done for last 10 years will be needing to be replaced so their will be a time in the future for more quality contractors...but now.....It's dead out there son, like some has said-- Look for something with a future like the power companies!!
