Good Morning Gentlemen, I have a few questions about establishing a fiber splicing practice. After reading the previous comments, I see that the best way to get things going include:
Obtaining proper certification FOA
Some sort of apprenticeship(Should i join IBEW?)
Purchasing GL insurance(from previous post about $400...any suggestion on company)
Purchase Tools(tool kit $300)
Corning termination kit $2000
OTDR(suggestion please)..i understand the top of the line fluke runs about $40K..but i am looking for a lower entry point..used is ok..
Fusion Splicer..again suggestion please
Also best business practices...
I don't want to make the mistake I have seen on the forums...Some of us are coming home and this is a cool business to get into(great transition)...we don't want to under cut the current price model..cost per connector?
Any suggestion on good contractors that allow apprenticeship?
Semper fi
