Re: WAKE UP Installers!!!
Various attempts to unionize cable companies and their contractors have had minimal results in the last 25 years. If you actively campaign for a union you will be fired and made to go to court to recoup your lost income and benefits for a year and you will get it. You will also get blackballed and used as an example by the cable co. as to what happens to pro union supporters. The other employees and contractors will get very quiet as management preaches that a union will drive up costs for everything and then everyone will be out of a job. Don't tell me why it can't happen. Seen it repeatedly. I personally would have loved to have seen the industry unionize a long time ago but cable as we knew it is going the route of land line phones. Too many Dish and Direct contractors make their nos. by ripping off their subs and that side of the industry would greatly benefit from a union and unionized training. That would open the door to unionize the cable companies. However, due to the economy too many hacks would be waiting at the door if everyone walked off. That is the only way I see making our clout felt. Just my two cents worth.
