79' Phoenix AZ , American Cable, Building Tempe, Scottsdale , and surrounding area. Just about everyone working there in-house or as a contractor was on the run from the law. It was nothing for the Sheriffs dept to roll up on your job site and take some one away, well anyhow had this anchor crew placing anchors, there where actually a crew owned by the Project manager, isn't that nice, well they where placing anchors left and right, one thing they where not putting in locates. Got a call about 3 am . It was the Police dept , They said there was a bad accident and since I was Const Super for some reason they had my #. They said I need to get down to this address ASAP. So got dressed headed out . As I approached the scene , saw Fire Trucks and Lights flashing everywhere. I was stopped and I told them who i was etc, they let me thru, There was what used to be a 7-11 store flattened and smoldering. Upon talking to the Police , I guess the anchor crew placed an anchor behind the 7-11 in an alley that afternoon, well they hit a gas line and gas leaked out all day and was being sucked into the reefer vent of the 7-11. well the night clerk apparantly went into the reefer that night to smoke a fatty and when he lit the match KA-BOOM down went the store. Guess he couldn't smell gas since the cold neutrailized the smell. The next day the Project Mgr and crew were gone. never saw them again.
Thats only 1 of many out there.
