As a sole proprietor/llc you can exempt yourself. But the prime insists you have workers comp. In GA. you can buy a workers comp policy from any local agency for @ 1k a year. It doesn't cover you personally, but if you hire anyone they are covered. But you pay lot's of extra if you do. If you hire anyone 1099 them and make sure they have their own workers comp policy and gl.
Trust me on this, I've been at this crap for 30 years.
