      Myself and a friend subbed from a contractor back in the late 90s in Phoenix.  They 1099'ed us but had us filled appilcations for
    employment.  After we left the company and went to work for another, we were told that if we filled out an app that then we
    were employees.  We call the first company back and told them that we had spoke with FICA.  They cut us a check for almost
    two grand each for taxes.  Cha ching.
