Try contacting your county government or whoever has the franchise agreement with them they may be able to help you out. I know where I live the county has The Consumer Cable TV Commission and they handle complaints by subscribers that think the cable company is screwing them....Always seems to be a line at the place. I live in VA and Comcast here will give you a basic digital box at no charge if you have expanded or more digital service. You could also try getting your own basic digital box from your local electronics store. Just keep the receipt and if it doesn't work take it back.
