If you program the 24 as RF then it will only accept RF signals from the remote, it will ignore all IR signals period.  You have to go into your remote setup screen and select advanced, and choose RF, it will tell you what to do on screen.
As for your MRV, if you connect a receiver straight into the internet by the port in the back, it will disable MRV.  In your case it doesn't matter if you have it or not because you only have 1 HR24.... there is nothing else you can use on MRV, so it's pointless.  D12's do not connect to it.
