I have 2 contracts in NC both require me to have WC, talk to your insurance company they will give you what is called a ghost policy. Meaning you carry the WC but can not use it mainly because you cannot sue yourself. However if I don't have it they take out an additional 8% which is roughly $200.00 a week or $800.00 a month. I pay $1050.00 a year for WC which is $87.50 a month pretty much a no brainer there. Also read your contract they may also be holding a percentage for retain age.
