You really need to check with your insurance company! Every state has a percentage for WC, depending on the job title.... the more "dangerous" the job, the higher the rate... I was paying 9 percent in Pennsylvania, but of course, paying it myself. No way should the company that you are contracting for be taking that money out of your check. And SUPPOSEDLY, as the owner of your own company, you do not need WC, nor can you collect on it if you get disabled. Seems totally illegal to me. But insurance companies love to sell it and Cable-Sat companies love to cover their fat asses, so you pay-pay-pay. So best bet...do what I do...I "hired" my wife as a secretary and supposedly pay her $50.00/wk..but just on paper..I get WC on her for the $2600.00/yr salary and pay $220.00/yr WC. I really don't pay her a cent, but the insurance company could care less, because they have their money. Comcast and the companies that I work for accept this as having a WC policy...(they just want to see a certificate of insurance) and everybody is happy..try it...it will save you a bundle...
