If you are hooking any ethernet cables into the Physical Box (hr24) It will disable the MRV until you disconnect it and reset it. You need a Internet DECA to overlay internet for Video on Demand.If your HR24 is changing channels along side the D12 then it is not in RF mode. Go into remote setup and change it. Go to youtube and search videos on how to do it. There are some that will walk you thru both issues you are asking about.If you cannot figure it out call DTV and let someone do it for you.
