Re: back charges and overtime
It should be illegal to charge back. They should at least give you a chance to repair the job if it is not up to standards. In some cases the company backcharges more than the job actually payed. Thats puishment for forgetting to tag a drop. Like the qc inspector for the mso couldnt have done it while he was there and warned you about it. Not realizing you have a family to feed and are doing the work that the inhouse techs wont do. These people hold you to standards they dont hold themselves and pay you a fraction of the money. Do you really think a cable company could roll a truck to a disconnect for 3 or 4 bucks? Yet they expect everything to be perferct and backcharge for the simplest things. HEY YOU WANT IT DONE RIGHT THEN PAY SOMETHING FOR THE WORK YOU ASK TO BE DONE. I love the cerification school you have to get now for cable. If it takes you 2 hours to watch a guy doing an install and going thru all the things they expect you to do how can you do it in lless than an hour. I mean you get 4 bucks for a cable box upgrade and your there for an hour showing some old lady how to use a multifunction remote and operate a dvr .And then if the old lady calls in and asks a question after you leave they charge you back for lack of customer education. And dont forget they want you check the lock box while you are there and replace all the fittings. Then do inventory for the fittings and clips you used for each job .And the contractor you are working for gets 60 percent of the money for that job. This is why cable companies use contractors because for them to roll an inhouse tech for that same job would probally cost them 50 bucks versus the four bucks you got.
