I might as well play too:
Keep the cable in the heated part of your truck.
If you can work near your truck....slide the cable end up the exhaust pipe with the engine running.
The other stuff that was mentioned already & works well = Put a fitting on a splitter and use that as a prep tool to open the cable end...the tool on the screwdriver handle also works.
AND for that added professional touch...........I got a lighter that says " GITT'ER DONE" when you light the thing.

Working in the cold can be dangerous so be careful.....charge more!
